Halifa Abdulmajid was brought before the Kano State High Court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on charges that he failed to deliver the items despite receiving N34.875 million for a spaghetti supply arrangement.
On a one-count charge of criminal misappropriation involving money purportedly belonging to Fahad Adaji, the defendant appeared before Justice Musa Karaye.
According to the charging document, the alleged offence occurred in Kano between September and October of 2024.
The prosecution claims that Abdulmajid gave the order for the money to be moved to Muazu Abdullahi’s First Bank account. According to reports, the money was intended to make it easier to buy IRS spaghetti from BUA.
The defendant entered a plea of not guilty when the charge was read.
Mustapha Maiwada, the prosecution’s attorney, then requested that the court set a trial date and mandate that the defendant be placed on custody remand.
The request was granted by Justice Karaye, who also ordered Abdulmajid to be detained in a detention facility while more proceedings were conducted.
The judge postponed the hearing until November 2.
